TRM TERMS OF SERVICE & MEMBERSHIP TERMS
Last updated: 7 October 2026
These Terms of Service and Membership Terms (“Terms”) govern your use of TRM, the TRM website and any TRM Membership.
TRM is operated by:
TRM TOOLS LTD
30 Oldway Oaks
Paignton

United Kingdom
Email: hello@jointrm.co.uk
By purchasing or using a TRM Membership, you agree to these Terms.
Please read them carefully before joining.
1. ABOUT TRM
TRM is a membership service providing members with access to professional barbering tools and associated membership services.
TRM stands for:
TRIM. REPLACE. MAINTAIN.
A TRM Membership provides access to equipment. Except where TRM expressly confirms otherwise in writing, you are not purchasing the equipment supplied through your membership.
All membership equipment remains the sole property of TRM TOOLS LTD at all times.
2. TRM MEMBERSHIPS
TRM currently offers membership tiers which may include:
ESSENTIAL
Access to 1 professional tool.
PRO
Access to 2 professional tools.
ELITE
Access to 2 professional tools and 1 foil shaver, together with any additional Elite benefits advertised at the time.
Current membership prices, benefits and eligible equipment are displayed on our website.
We may introduce, remove or change membership options for future purchases.
Any material changes affecting an existing member will be handled in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.
3. MEMBERSHIP PAYMENTS
TRM Memberships are billed monthly using the payment method provided when joining.
By joining, you authorise TRM and its payment providers to collect the applicable recurring membership payment when due.
Your first payment is taken when you join unless otherwise stated.
Future payments are then collected according to your membership billing schedule.
Your monthly billing cycle and 120-day tool cycle are separate.
A tool swap does not restart your membership, create a new membership or automatically create another six-month minimum commitment.
4. SIX-MONTH MINIMUM COMMITMENT
TRM Memberships have an initial minimum commitment of six monthly payments, subject to your applicable statutory rights.
By joining TRM, you agree to this minimum commitment.
After your initial six-month minimum term has been completed, your membership continues automatically on a rolling monthly basis until cancelled.
Completing a tool swap does not restart the six-month minimum term.
We do not automatically place you into another six-month minimum commitment simply because you continue your membership.
5. YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL
Nothing in these Terms removes or restricts any statutory cancellation rights available to you under UK consumer law.
Where you have a statutory right to cancel, TRM will honour that right in accordance with applicable law.
If TRM equipment has already been supplied to you when your membership is lawfully cancelled, you must return all TRM-owned equipment in accordance with our return instructions.
After completing your minimum membership commitment, you may cancel your rolling monthly membership using the cancellation method made available by TRM.
Cancellation does not transfer ownership of TRM equipment to you.
6. MEMBERSHIP EQUIPMENT
All clippers, trimmers, foil shavers, courtesy tools and other professional equipment supplied as part of a TRM Membership remain the property of TRM TOOLS LTD.
Membership payments provide access to the equipment and membership service.
Membership payments do not build ownership or equity in the equipment.
You must not:
- sell TRM equipment;
- give it away;
- pawn it;
- permanently transfer it to another person;
- use it as security for borrowing;
- deliberately damage it;
- remove or intentionally obscure identifying information;
- claim ownership of it; or
- dispose of it without TRM’s written permission.
You are responsible for taking reasonable care of TRM equipment while it is assigned to you.
7. TOOL SELECTION
Members may select eligible equipment according to their membership tier and the TRM collection available at the relevant time.
Tool availability is not guaranteed.
Equipment may be displayed as:
Available Now — currently available through TRM.
Available to Order — TRM expects to be able to source the equipment, subject to supplier availability.
Currently Unavailable — the equipment cannot currently be selected.
If your preferred equipment becomes unavailable, you may be asked to choose another eligible option or continue with your existing equipment until an appropriate alternative becomes available.
8. YOUR FIRST TRM DELIVERY
After joining, you may receive your TRM Welcome Pack and Membership Card separately from your professional equipment.
TRM will source, check, prepare and register your selected equipment before dispatch.
We generally aim for initial equipment to arrive within approximately 5–7 working days, but this is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date.
Supplier, courier or other circumstances outside our reasonable control may occasionally affect delivery times.
We will communicate material delays where reasonably possible.
9. YOUR 120-DAY TOOL CYCLE
Your first 120-day tool cycle begins when your initial TRM equipment is confirmed as delivered.
Your membership billing schedule operates separately.
When your 120-day swap window arrives, you may:
KEEP your current eligible equipment; or
SWAP eligible equipment for another available option.
A swap is optional.
You do not have to change equipment simply because 120 days have passed.
10. FUTURE 120-DAY CYCLES
After your first cycle, subsequent cycles are calculated from your official swap eligibility date.
This prevents courier delays from continually changing your future swap dates.
Where you choose to keep your existing setup, your next cycle will still be calculated from the applicable official cycle date.
TRM will maintain the applicable cycle records.
11. TOOL CONDITION CHECK
Before a swap is approved, you may be required to complete a digital Tool Condition Check.
This may require photographs, video and information showing the condition and operation of your current TRM equipment.
TRM may withhold approval of a replacement tool while:
- requested information remains outstanding;
- damage is being investigated;
- equipment has been reported lost or stolen;
- an outstanding return is unresolved; or
- another material equipment issue requires resolution.
Approval of a digital Tool Condition Check does not prevent TRM from physically inspecting equipment after it is returned.
12. NORMAL WEAR & TEAR
TRM understands that professional barbering equipment is designed to be used.
Reasonable professional wear and tear is expected and will not automatically result in a charge.
This may include reasonable:
- cosmetic wear;
- light surface marks;
- product or hair build-up;
- normal blade wear; and
- deterioration resulting from ordinary professional use.
Members are nevertheless expected to take reasonable care of TRM equipment.
13. CHARGEABLE DAMAGE
Damage materially beyond reasonable professional wear may result in the member being responsible for reasonable repair, replacement or associated losses, subject to applicable law.
Examples may include:
- significant drop or impact damage;
- cracked or broken casing;
- serious blade damage caused by misuse;
- liquid or water damage;
- deliberate damage;
- unauthorised modifications;
- unauthorised repairs;
- missing parts;
- severe neglect; or
- other damage inconsistent with reasonable professional use.
TRM will assess the circumstances and equipment before determining whether a charge is appropriate.
We will not treat ordinary professional wear and tear as chargeable damage.
14. LOST OR STOLEN EQUIPMENT
You must notify TRM as soon as reasonably possible if TRM equipment is lost or stolen.
We may request reasonable information concerning what happened and, where appropriate, evidence such as a crime reference number.
Because the equipment remains the property of TRM TOOLS LTD, you may be responsible for reasonable losses arising from lost or unreturned equipment where permitted by law and these Terms.
Each case will be assessed based on the circumstances.
15. THE SWAP PROCESS
Where your Tool Condition Check is approved and you choose to swap, you may select eligible replacement equipment.
TRM may begin sourcing or reserving your requested equipment before your official swap date.
Replacement equipment remains subject to availability.
When your swap is ready, TRM will arrange dispatch.
16. THE TRM SWAP BOX
Replacement equipment may be sent in a reusable TRM Swap Box.
The Swap Box may contain:
- your replacement equipment;
- return instructions; and
- prepaid tracked return postage or instructions for accessing it.
Remove your replacement equipment and securely place the outgoing TRM equipment into the same Swap Box.
Unless TRM tells you otherwise, outgoing equipment must be handed to the specified return carrier within 5 calendar days of receiving your replacement equipment.
You should retain proof of postage until TRM confirms receipt.
17. RETURN OF EQUIPMENT
You must return TRM equipment when required under your membership.
This includes where:
- equipment is swapped;
- equipment needs to be inspected;
- TRM requires a courtesy tool to be returned;
- a replacement has been supplied;
- your membership ends; or
- TRM otherwise has a contractual and lawful right to require its return.
When your membership ends, all TRM-owned equipment in your possession must be returned.
This includes all membership equipment, courtesy equipment and temporary replacement equipment.
Unless TRM confirms otherwise, equipment must be handed to the specified carrier within 5 calendar days of receiving the relevant return instructions or materials.
18. FAILURE TO RETURN TRM EQUIPMENT
TRM equipment remains our property even after your membership has been cancelled or terminated.
Cancellation does not give you the right to keep the equipment.
If equipment is not returned within the required timeframe, we may contact you and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve the outstanding return.
If equipment remains unreturned, TRM TOOLS LTD may take reasonable and lawful steps to:
- recover its equipment;
- recover reasonable losses resulting from the failure to return it;
- seek payment of amounts properly due;
- use an appropriate debt-recovery process; and/or
- pursue legal proceedings where necessary.
We reserve the right to rely on equipment records, serial numbers, delivery records, tracking information, Tool Condition Checks and relevant communications when establishing the status of TRM property.
Any amount sought will be determined reasonably and in accordance with applicable consumer law.
19. RETURN INSPECTIONS
When equipment returns to TRM, it may be:
inspected → tested → cleaned → serviced → sanitised → graded → returned to circulation where appropriate.
If damage or another material issue is discovered that was not reasonably identifiable during the digital Tool Condition Check, TRM may contact you.
The digital Tool Condition Check does not constitute TRM’s final physical inspection of returned equipment.
20. MAINTENANCE
Maintenance included within a TRM Membership relates to reasonable servicing and maintenance associated with normal professional use, subject to the benefits of your membership tier.
Maintenance does not automatically cover loss, theft, deliberate damage, misuse or damage materially beyond reasonable wear and tear.
If equipment develops a fault, contact TRM rather than attempting an unauthorised repair.
21. FAULTY EQUIPMENT
If you believe TRM equipment has developed a fault, contact:
We may ask you to provide photographs, video or information describing the issue.
Depending on the circumstances, TRM may arrange for the equipment to be inspected, maintained, repaired or replaced.
You should not independently dispose of or arrange unauthorised repair of TRM-owned equipment.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
22. COURTESY EQUIPMENT
Where included within your membership benefits, you may be eligible for courtesy equipment while qualifying TRM equipment is being assessed, repaired or replaced.
Courtesy equipment:
- remains the property of TRM TOOLS LTD;
- is supplied temporarily;
- must be reasonably cared for; and
- must be returned when requested.
Courtesy equipment is subject to availability and any applicable eligibility requirements.
23. FAILED PAYMENTS
If a membership payment fails, our payment provider may automatically retry the payment.
During an unresolved payment failure, TRM may temporarily restrict membership benefits where permitted under these Terms and applicable law.
This may include withholding:
- new tool selections;
- swaps;
- non-essential member benefits; or
- dispatch of additional TRM equipment.
A failed payment does not transfer ownership of equipment to you or remove your obligation to return TRM property when required.
If payment problems continue, we may contact you to resolve the outstanding balance and/or arrange return of TRM equipment.
24. MEMBERSHIP PAUSES
TRM does not currently offer voluntary membership pauses unless we expressly agree otherwise.
Members should therefore only join where they are prepared to maintain the agreed membership commitment.
Any system-generated restriction or temporary suspension caused by failed payment or account review is not a voluntary membership pause and does not automatically remove outstanding contractual obligations.
25. UPGRADING OR DOWNGRADING
Where available, members may request a change of membership tier.
Because different memberships provide access to different quantities or types of equipment, changes may require:
- equipment to be returned;
- additional equipment to be supplied;
- a Tool Condition Check;
- a change to future billing; and/or
- completion of the current billing period.
TRM will confirm the applicable process before implementing the change.
A plan change does not automatically create a new minimum commitment unless this is clearly disclosed and expressly agreed before the change takes effect.
26. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
TRM may offer additional membership benefits such as:
- educational content;
- member communities;
- competitions;
- giveaways;
- early access;
- events;
- member-only opportunities; and
- other promotional benefits.
These additional benefits may change over time and, unless expressly included as a core contractual benefit of your specific plan, are not guaranteed indefinitely.
27. ACCEPTABLE USE
TRM Memberships are intended for genuine use of professional barbering equipment.
You must not use TRM to:
- obtain equipment through fraud or deception;
- provide false identity, payment or delivery information;
- deliberately avoid returning TRM property;
- resell TRM-owned equipment;
- repeatedly exploit the swap process;
- intentionally damage equipment;
- manipulate condition assessments;
- submit fraudulent loss or damage reports; or
- otherwise misuse the membership service.
Serious misuse may result in membership termination and appropriate recovery action, subject to applicable law.
28. ACCOUNT INFORMATION
You are responsible for ensuring that information supplied to TRM remains accurate.
You should notify us if important information changes, particularly your:
- name;
- email address;
- telephone number;
- delivery address; or
- payment details.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your customer account credentials.
29. MOVING ADDRESS
Because valuable TRM-owned equipment is assigned to your account, please update your delivery address before requesting or expecting a delivery.
TRM is not responsible for losses caused solely by a member providing an incorrect address, subject to our legal obligations.
We may carry out reasonable verification before sending equipment to a substantially different address.
30. DELIVERY
Delivery estimates are provided in good faith but cannot always be guaranteed.
Delays may occur because of:
- supplier availability;
- courier delays;
- severe weather;
- public holidays;
- stock shortages; or
- circumstances outside TRM’s reasonable control.
Where a significant delay occurs, we will take reasonable steps to communicate with you and resolve the situation.
Nothing in this section limits rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
31. PRICING
Current membership prices are displayed before joining.
TRM may change membership pricing from time to time.
A change to the price applicable to an existing membership will not be imposed without any notice or consent required by applicable law and your contractual rights.
Changes to prices for new memberships may take effect immediately when published.
32. REFUNDS
Membership payments are generally non-refundable once properly due and the relevant membership period or service has been provided, except where:
- you have a statutory right to a refund;
- you have been charged incorrectly;
- TRM agrees a refund is appropriate; or
- applicable law otherwise requires a refund.
Further information is contained in our Return & Refund Policy.
33. TERMINATION BY TRM
TRM may suspend or terminate a membership where there is a legitimate reason to do so, including serious or repeated:
- non-payment;
- fraud;
- deliberate misuse;
- failure to return equipment;
- unauthorised sale or transfer of TRM property;
- deliberate damage;
- abuse of TRM staff or services; or
- material breach of these Terms.
Where appropriate, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.
Termination does not remove obligations that arose before termination, including the obligation to return TRM equipment or pay amounts properly due.
34. PRIVACY
We process personal information in accordance with the TRM Privacy Policy.
This includes information necessary to manage memberships, payments, equipment assignments, Tool Condition Checks, deliveries, returns, faults and disputes.
35. WEBSITE USE
The content of the TRM website is provided for personal and legitimate business use in connection with TRM.
Unless permitted by law or authorised by TRM, you may not reproduce, commercially exploit or misuse TRM website content, branding, photography, graphics or other protected material.
36. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
TRM branding, logos, graphics, website content and other intellectual property belonging to TRM TOOLS LTD or its licensors remain their respective property.
Purchasing a membership does not grant ownership of TRM intellectual property.
37. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Subject to those rights, TRM is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was entered into or losses caused by circumstances for which TRM is not legally responsible.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict your statutory consumer rights.
38. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time where reasonably necessary, including because of changes to:
- TRM services;
- technology;
- membership operations;
- legal requirements; or
- regulatory requirements.
Material changes affecting existing memberships will be communicated where required.
The latest version will be available on our website.
39. IF PART OF THESE TERMS IS INVALID
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
40. NO WAIVER
If TRM does not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not necessarily mean we have waived our right to enforce it later.
41. THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS
Unless applicable law provides otherwise, these Terms are between you and TRM TOOLS LTD.
No other person has a right to enforce these Terms solely by virtue of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
42. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory rights regarding where legal proceedings may be brought that apply to you under UK law.
